The Masti trio is finally back! After a long wait .The Masti franchise, which started with a bang years ago, has returned with Masti 4. I went in hoping for some nostalgia and genuine laughs, but what I got was a 2-hour and 22-minute headache. If you are planning to book tickets, read this first to save your hard-earned money.

The Plot: The “Love Visa” nonsense

The story revolves around our three familiar frustrated husbands. Their lives are boring, the spark is gone, and they are desperate. Enter a new character played by Arshad Warsi, who introduces them to the concept of a “Love Visa.”

The idea is simple: You get a “visa” for 7 days to go out, have fun, and do whatever you want without your wives knowing. But here is the “twist” meant to be the shocker—once the husbands fail to score during their week, it turns out the visa is a two-way street. The wives get their own 7-day Love Visa next.

On paper, it sounds like a premise for an adult comedy. On screen? It’s a disaster.

What Actually Works (The Good Stuff)

If you look at the BookMyShow ratings, people are still going to watch it. Here is why:

  1. The Nostalgia Factor: There is undeniable chemistry between Riteish, Vivek, and Aftab. Seeing them share the screen again feels familiar and comfortable. They try their best to lift the script with their comic timing.
  2. Arshad Warsi is a Plus: The addition of Arshad Warsi was a smart move. He brings his own style of humor and energy to the group, providing some of the better laughs in the film.
  3. Strictly “Time Pass” Entertainment: If you go in without expecting logic or high-class cinema, there are moments of slapstick comedy that might make you chuckle. It is a “leave your brains at home” kind of movie. For the mass audience that enjoys loud jokes and glamorous songs, it offers some mindless entertainment.

Why This Movie is a Total Miss

  1. The Humor is Dead and Offensive The biggest problem with Masti 4 is that it isn’t funny. The jokes feel ancient. We are in 2025, but the script feels like it was written in 2004 and left to rot.
  • The dialogues are lazy and filled with forced double meanings that just make you cringe.
  • There is a scene involving a character named “Rose Mary” just to make a cheap “Marlo” surname joke. It’s that bad.
  • It tries hard to be “adult,” but it ends up just being cheap and vulgar rather than clever or witty.
  1. Acting: Everyone Looks Bored You can actually see the pain in the actors’ eyes. Riteish, Vivek, and Aftab—who usually have great chemistry—look like they are being forced to act at gunpoint. They are sleepwalking through their roles. Even the talented Arshad Warsi is completely wasted here. The female leads are mostly used as props with cringe-worthy dialogues.
  2. Direction Feels Like a TV Serial The direction by Milap Zaveri is incredibly lazy. There is no cinematic feel to the movie.
  • Most scenes just feature the actors standing in a straight line, reciting lines one by one.
  • It looks and feels more like a low-budget daily soap opera or a skit than a theatrical movie.
  • The editing is choppy, and the background score tries too hard to tell you when to laugh (because the jokes won’t).

Public Verdict

Looking at the general vibe from the audience, the theaters are empty for a reason. People leaving the cinema are calling it “Bakwaas” (rubbish) and a total waste of money. The general consensus is that this is worse than Grand Masti and Great Grand Masti combined.

Final Thoughts

Should you watch it? Absolutely NOT.

Masti 4 is not a masterpiece, but it’s not entirely unwatchable either if you are a die-hard fan of the franchise.

It falls into the category of “Guilty Pleasure.” If you enjoyed Grand Masti and just want to laugh at silly jokes with your friends (definitely not with family!), you might find it passable. However, if you are looking for smart comedy, this might disappoint you.

Our Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5) One star for the chemistry of the lead trio, and one star for Arshad Warsi trying to save the ship.
